If you’re in need of a cuteness-overload distraction then you have come to the right place! This newborn session was so stinking adorable. The older daughter was so in love with “her baby” that she cried when her mama held the baby!
Here’s the things I loveeeee about newborn sessions: the newness of the baby, the tenderness of the family, the very special quiet and tired energy that falls over a family (though its notably different when a toddler is around!). It just all feels very special and fleeting and I’m so honored to be allowed into a family’s new tender, quiet, tired time. Because the cliche is very true: they do grow up so fast.
There’s really a sweet spot for shooting newborn photography. I aim for when the baby is 1-3 weeks old. Parents are slowly adjusting after a few days (which for new parents feels like 5 seconds and 5 years at the same time- time is weird with kids). Baby is still pretty sleepy. Newborn photography sessions take time and patience- to get the right angles and photos of the family’s newest addition. In an ideal shoot it takes around 2 hours to really capture the moment.
My friend helped me choose the photos to post in this blog. When she saw the last photo at the bottom she said: “I wish I had a picture like this for my family. This is the number one reason to hire a professional photographer- this totally captures that time in your life. The dog, the goofy toddler, the faces, the baby, the happy and overwhelmed parents- all of it”.
Love to you all in this weird time. Stay safe and healthy. Let’s try to love each other as much as this little girl loves her baby, the world always needs more of that.
